Paul Nagle Joins Capitol Decisions Inc.
Washington, D.C., May 18, 2009 – Paul Nagle, an expert on communications law and policy, is leaving his position as Republican Chief Counsel of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee to become a Vice President at Capitol Decisions Inc., one of the Van Scoyoc Companies.
“Paul is a wonderful addition to our team,” said H. Stewart “Stu” Van Scoyoc, President and CEO of Capitol Decisions and the other Van Scoyoc Companies. “His skill and knowledge in this field, as well as his extensive experience in other areas of the Committee’s jurisdiction, will add an important dimension to our firm.”
Mr. Nagle, an attorney who had worked with the Federal Communications Commission before becoming a senior Congressional staff member, was responsible for all of the legislative activities of the Committee, but he focused on communications and technology law, Internet governance, consumer product safety, and privacy issues.
At Capitol Decisions Inc., or CDI, Mr. Nagle will assume a leading role on these same issues.
“I have enjoyed my time on the Hill tremendously, and I learned a lot from my associations with several prominent Members and my staff colleagues. Most of my issues weren’t partisan, and I have seen how to work with both sides of the aisle, thanks to the examples set by the relationships between Sens. Stevens and Inouye and between Sens. Rockefeller and Hutchison.”
As a Counsel for the Committee, Mr. Nagle led in the drafting of a major communications rewrite in the 108th Congress. He also spent considerable time working on Internet Tax, emergency calling, the upcoming DTV transition, public safety interoperability, and consumer product safety legislation. All of these initiatives were signed into law.
Mr. Nagle worked at the FCC covering broadband and homeland security issues. He went to the FCC from the Washington, D.C., law firm of Wilkinson Barker Knauer LLP, which he joined in 1999.
Mr. Nagle earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland and his law degree from Catholic University. He also studied communications law and received the special studies certificate from the Institute for Communications Law Studies.
