Buzz Hawley

Director, Government Relations, and Counsel

Buzz Hawley serves as Director of Government Relations and Counsel at Van Scoyoc Associates. He joined the firm in August 1997 and currently serves as counsel in the transportation and energy/environmental group and general appropriations practice of the firm, with an emphasis on transportation, energy, defense, judiciary, environmental, information technology, and educational issues.

Mr. Hawley joined Van Scoyoc Associates after working for six years in the Washington office of United States Rep. Frank R. Wolf, R-Va. Mr. Hawley joined Congressman Wolf in 1991 and served as a Staff Assistant and Legislative Assistant before being elevated to the position of Senior Legislative Assistant and Counsel.  During his tenure on Capitol Hill, Mr. Hawley assisted Congressman Wolf in his role on the House Appropriations Committee, with a concentration on the Transportation, Energy and Water, Interior, Defense, Military Construction, Agriculture, VA-HUD, and Commerce-State-Justice-Judiciary Subcommittees.

Mr. Hawley graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1991, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Government and English. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from George Mason University.  He is a native of Fairfax County, Va., and active politically in both Washington and Virginia. He served as a campaign coordinator for former President Bush; former Virginia Governor and U.S. Sen. George Allen; Congressman Wolf, the Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, and Congressman Thomas M. Davis III, R-Va., the former Chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee. Mr. Hawley was the Republican nominee for the Mason District Supervisor seat on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors in 2003.
