Carl A. Anderson is a thought leader in the areas of health care, information technology, and cybersecurity. Frequently quoted in news stories on these matters, Carl is often asked to present at conferences and executive roundtables.
As a Vice President at Van Scoyoc Associates, Carl leverages more than a dozen years of service in the Federal Government and on Capitol Hill, to offer government relations solutions to a diverse client base. He blends his legislative and executive branch experience to create tailored government relations strategies to achieve results for his clients. Carl is also part of Van Scoyoc Associates’ Crisis Management Team, helping clients manage congressional relations during investigations and public relations efforts.
Before joining Van Scoyoc Associates, Carl served as a counsel for the House Committee on Energy and Commerce where he tackled many high profile industry investigations. He maintains close ties to the Committee leadership and staff, and with the House Republican leadership.
Carl began his career in Washington working for Congressman Christopher Smith (R, NJ-4) and on the Senate Judiciary Committee. A lawyer by training, Carl was selected into the United States Department of Justice Attorney General’s Honors Program, managing a multitude of litigation, including both internal and congressional investigations. Carl was also appointed a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia in 2007.
Carl graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor’s of Art in Political Science and went on to receive his Juris Doctor from the Columbus School of Law at Catholic University. He currently lives in Arlington, Virginia with his wife, Katie, and their two sons.
